The Originals season 4, and the case of Daniel Gillies’ Elijah
Over the course of this past episode, the character absolutely went through a wide array of “changes” … and that is putting it lightly because he seemingly died, he was seemingly brought back, and there is now no clear indication as to what form he will be in moving forward. Is he really brought back, or is something else controlling him now?
Ultimately, it’s a little early to determine what his proper fate is going to be on the show, or how this incident will pact him. The only thing that can be assured is that this is far from the end of the road for him with the show. Gillies is directing the next new episode airing in early June, so he had an even deeper investment in that show than many of the others seen over the course of the season.
Meanwhile, there are a few more episodes left this season, so it’s hard to figure out that the show would want to do away with one of their most beloved characters before that. Maybe there’s a reason to worry about him at the end of the finale, mostly because this is a show full of people who probably want to do a variety of other things. Also, this is a show set in a supernatural world where people die and terrible things happen. It would admittedly be rather strange in the event that there was not something crazy that went down when it came to a character possibly dying. Unfortunately, the show is going to be putting you in a holding pattern for the next couple of weeks. Just remember — even though The Originals was renewed for a fith season earlier this season, the reality still is that they didn’t confirm that the entirety of the cast is going to be returning to go along with it.
