Is Hawaii Five-0 new tonight on CBS? Given the billion or so different things that happened on this past episode, it’s fair to want more.
Unfortunately, the news on the subject of this question is of the not-so-good variety, as there is no new installment coming on the air. Last week’s episode was the finale, and it’s tough to complain about there not being any more of the show given that CBS did give you a whopping 25 episodes over the course of the season. This ties the show with Scorpion as the show with the most episodes of the 2016-17 season, at least in terms of scripted primetime series.
As for when the show will be back on the air with further episodes, that is a subject that you can read a little bit more about just by heading over here. signs do point towards September, and earlier this week, it was confirmed that (as expected) Hawaii Five-0 season 8 will continue at the same timeslot Friday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. This makes the most sense, given that this show actually held the entirety of its 18-49 rating in this spot versus where it stood the year before. In this modern age of ratings, that is a stunning development worthy of some celebration.
So when will the show cross a big milestone and begin filming? The simple answer to that, for now is July. Typically the show kicks off with a traditional Hawaiian ceremony to kick off filming the right way, and the cast has an opportunity to then settle in to some of the routine of working on producing so many episodes. Even though season 7 ended with a wide array of different cliffhangers suggesting that many different characters could be facing new career opportunities, the are no reports out there suggesting that anyone is leaving. This is something worth monitoring over the remainder of the summer. (There will probably be more rumors out there about Alex O’Loughlin’s future ever until an announcement is out there one way or another on the subject officially.)
