With Grey’s Anatomy season 13 episode 24 — otherwise known as the season finale — airing on ABC, panic may be the word to describe the story. While the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital experienced some trauma in its past, what it is encountering this week is still somewhat different than anything it’s experienced before.
Specifically, the problems happening at the hospital this time around are twofold. First, there is the fact that a dangerous man is loose in this hospital, and he could put some of the other doctors in jeopardy. The other issue at the heart of the story is the fire that said man has caused. None of the other doctors know that he is likely dead after accidentally catching himself ablaze. They just know that there is danger in the hospital, and the likes of Meredith, Arizona, and Eliza want to go back in and help everyone in need. At first, the security guards turn the doctors away, but then they are able to get inside and kick off the next phase of their plan: Helping people. For Meredith Grey, she is targeting specifically the missing girl who Stephanie and the dangerous man encountered at the end of this past episode.
Here’s the one bit of unfortunate news that none of the doctors know at the moment: Stephanie may very well be dead. The explosion went off with her nearby, and this one way or another will mark the end for her time on the show. Jerrika Hinton is planning to depart at the end of the season, so consider this a precursor to anything else happening. The big mystery is mostly how it happens, and if it will tie in somehow to everything else that is transpiring at the hospital or beyond.
There are some further loose ends that need to be tied up or addressed during the finale. For example, there is the issue of Jo’s estranged husband that Alex uncovered on this past episode. There is also the devastating truth about Owen’s sister being found. Both of these stories should rear their head in one way or another before it is over.
