NCIS season 14 finale review: Agent Gibbs, McGee goes to Paraguay to find missing seal

NCIS season 14 finale review

On Tuesday night NCIS viewers got to see extreme bravery by Agent Gibbs and Agent McGee as they were left behind in a gun battle with rebels. The final scenes had fans screaming at the TV to go back, but it was too late.

Backing up to the beginning of the episode, the NCIS team was contacted by a government office in Paraguay after a human hand and body parts show up in a creek. The ID on the body parts matched to a couple of military man.

This crime might be in a far away place, but the clues don’t add up with the victim’s itinerary. Said to be going to Canada, the SEAL apparently went on an unsanctioned mission after returning from the country. The team realizes that not one, but two SEALs are in Paraguay on some sort of secret mission. The clues keep coming in and so do the body parts. After some lab work, it is realized that one of the men is still alive and the other is without a hand.

In a surprising decision, Agent Gibbs decided to head to Paraguay to solve the murders firsthand. Locating the coordinates of the surviving military man, the first thing Agent Gibbs, Torres and McGee do is start asking the locals if the SEALs have been seen. Worried about the rebels, little to no information is given.

Back in the United States the rest of the NCIS team is trying to figure out why the SEALs went to Paraguay. It is assumed that they have a large gambling debt and went back to rob the rebels. However, what they find out is quite different. Apparently the Navy SEALs were almost killed on their previous mission, but a local villager took them in and they were safely extracted. Asking for a favor in return, the villager wanted the SEALs to come back to save his son and other young men in the village after they were abducted by the rebels. It was a mission more about doing things right.

Finding the missing man was the first order of business for Agent Gibbs’ team in Paraguay. After locating the man, who definitely was missing a hand, the NCIS team decided to finish the unsanctioned mission and bring home the young boys. Knowing the mission was dangerous and the risk was big, everyone was aware it could go sideways. The boys were found, but not without paying a price. Agent Torres and the kidnapped boys got in the waiting helicopter. The rebels started an extreme gun battle which put Agent Gibbs and Agent McGee between the rebels and their escape.

The NCIS season finale left two of the team members behind. The ending was intense and it sets up how the upcoming season might have viewers on the edge of their seats as the story continues. Who will come home alive? What will happen to Agent Gibbs and Agent McGee? It’s going to be a long summer as fans won’t find out until the beginning of NCIS season 15. Grade: A-.
