The Voice iTunes predictions: Chris Blue and Lauren Duski set for finale

The Voice iTunes predictions

Based on the current data that is out there, it’s time to make some The Voice iTunes predictions beginning with Lauren Duski and Chris Blue. Are they set for the finale? Signs suggest so.

As of right now, these two singers are #1 and #2 on the chart with “Ghost in This House” and “Take Me to the King.” Both made strong song choices that appeal either to the country / Americana or religious crowds, and this is a tried-and-true method to get some support from buyers at home. It’s a little odd that commercialism plays such a vital role in this competition (iTunes singles aren’t free!), but it is probably a more accurate reflection of music industry success than what other shows do with strictly a vote.

Beyond these two, the race for the final spots in the finale gets a little more interesting. While Aliyah Moulden is currently ranked higher than Hunter Plake — and performed a contemporary Christian classic in MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine” — Hunter’s been a more consistent performer over the course of the season and seems set for the finale one way or another. If Hunter doesn’t make it to the top four automatically, he’ll likely be the recipient of the #VoiceSave for the evening.

If Hunter does make it to the final four without the Save, things get more interesting. If Aliyah is paired up against Brennley Brown for the Save, it’s not a lock that she advances. Brennley and her coach Gwen Stefani made a mistake last night with her song choice, which puts her vulnerable in a way that she hasn’t been most of the season. It’s a tossup now if she makes it into the finale, but it’s easy to foresee fans of Blake Shelton working to help his girlfriend’s country artist also get to the final round for a face-off against Lauren.

As for the likely goners, TSoul, Vanessa Ferguson, and Jesse Larson (despite decent iTunes sales for the final two) are probably all packing their bags.

The best thing about this season as a whole is that there doesn’t seem to be a super-clear favorite. Lauren and Chris seemed primed for the final two, but there situations where either could end up winning.
