Scorpion season 3 finale review: Did the team leave the island?

Scorpion season 3 finale review

The Scorpion season 3 finale was a story about several different things: Friendship, teamwork, and Sylvester sporting the world’s most-ridiculous beard after just a few weeks. Also, magnets. Magnets, b—h! This show brought out so many intentional / unintentional callbacks over the course of the episode’s run. There were also a couple of moments where it felt as though Desmond was going to start dancing around to “Make Your Own Kind of Music” from Lost as the team discovered a hatch.

Despite whatever differences that the team had while stuck out on a deserted island, eventually they all did get somewhat unified because of one simple thing: The desire to escape using a convoluted plan revolving around magnets, Happy’s juicer (a wedding planet from Paige), pennies, and getting everyone together at the same time in order to properly ensure that they would be able to get the attention of a nearby plane flying over the area. Basically, they had to make a shiny copper S using pennies.

After their mission seemed successful, the team quickly felt downtrodden given that the plane didn’t seem to nice … at least at first. The plane came back, and the team finally found themselves in a position where they could be rescued. A celebration like no other ensued.

The episode eventually did shift back to the garage, where the team was starting to get accustomed to the modern world. Cabe hated all of the attention from reporters, while Toby spent the first two hours watching the music video that Happy recorded while in Portugal. This was ridiculous — not “Let’s Go to the Mall” ridiculous, but still. Somehow, Happy wasn’t all that upset about it; they were just happy to have a proper honeymoon. Sylvester had to go and “revive” himself after the Mayor declared him dead, and Walter and Paige … well, they had a chance to be romantic that they didn’t have while back on the island.

Final verdict

This was just about as entertaining of a finale as the show could have given you, one that revolved around the crew doing everything that they could in order to ensure their rescue. It took a lot of effort, but they figured it out! This finale set the stage for season 4 without a cliffhanger, and it brought a smile to our face from start to finish. Grade: A-.
