Call the Midwife season 6 finale spoilers (PBS): A wedding; more surprises

When the Call the Midwife season 6 finale airs on PBS in just one week’s time, the simple advice worth sharing is to be prepared for an episode that brings a little bit of everything to the table. There’s going to be emotion, there’s going to be excitement, and there will be plenty of romance to go along with it.

Above all else, there’s going to be a wedding! While the synopsis below may not spoil the bride or the groom, it doesn’t take a whole lot of effort in order to identify the two parties. Just think about the story that we’ve been on so far this season.

Call the Midwife season 6 finale synopsis – “An unexpected turn of events leads to a wedding being hastily arranged. Shelagh finally goes into labor. The arrival of the pill leads to unforeseen consequences.”

The wedding will be the main event of much of the episode, and this allows many people the opportunity to congregate in Poplar and celebrate. At the same time, you do also have the new arrival courtesy of Shelagh to celebrate and this will add yet another layer of wonderful intrigue and surprise to the mix. If you enjoy Call the Midwife for the joyous moments, these are two that will surely bring a smile to your face. Granted, this is also a show that should make you cry, so it’s fair to be prepared for that, as well.

The only other major teaser worth offering up is something that’s been said for a rather long time this season — while Patsy Mount may have departed some time ago, she is not gone from the world. The series will provide a sense of resolution to her story one way or another in the finale — at least for the season. There could be plenty more to come.

Alas, this episode will be the final one of the spring for fans of the series, and then also the summer and the fall. The next time Helen George and the rest of the cast will be on TV is the Christmas Special, which (natch) airs this December.
