See Poldark season 3, Benedict Cumberbatch The Child in Time in BBC clip

A Child in Time

BBC One is one of the most premier destinations at this point for fantastic drama; for evidence, the extended video below provides it and then some.

From the jump the prospect of some Poldark season 3 footage is worth the price of admission — even if it is brief. What is surprising is the extreme amount of depth beyond that as the BBC highlight many of the different series that are coming on the air over the course of the coming months. You have included in the video such names as The Child in Time starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Gunpowder featuring Kit Harington, Peaky Blinders, Howards End, and so many more exceptional shows. This is coming even after a tremendous year marked already by the return of Sherlock and an excellent new series of Line of Duty.

If you are reading this article from within Britain, you know how much wonderful programming will be at your fingertips soon. American readers, meanwhile, may face more of a struggle getting to see some of this programming. Nonetheless, be aware of the fact that this is all out there, and it could be coming either to such networks as BBC America / PBS / your favorite streaming service soon enough. Check online for various programmers and air dates. For example, Poldark season 3 will navigate itself over to the States come this fall on PBS, so it’s something worth having on the radar. This is also set to be the eventual home for The Child in Time, which makes a good bit of sense given the relationship that is there between the PBS Masterpiece label and Cumberbatch — this also was the American destination for Sherlock to go along with it.

It’s easy to go through a list as to why the BBC tends to be head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to programming — one of the simplest reasons is tied back to their flexibility. Unlike American television, they don’t tie themselves down to doing 22 episodes of any one thing in primetime. They let creators create, and come back for more at their own leisure instead of forcing it to be an annual thing. The format is such that allows for more creativity, and it’s a wish that American broadcast networks would take note.
