The Originals season 4 episode 8: More on Matt Davis’ Alaric
In the quest to round up the remains of the Hollow in an effort to stop its spread and influence, this episode will feature the first crossover since the end of The Vampire Diaries. Through that, you will get a far greater sense of the timeline. As executive producer Michael Narducci notes in the video below, much time has passed, and Alaric is moving on to other things in life beyond vampire-hunting. He is now helping to run with Caroline a school for gifted supernatural beings — it’s almost like X-Men before there were so many jaunty / confusing timelines thrown around. This will help to bring more of Klaus and the Mikaelson family into the orbit of Mystic Falls, and after all that some of these characters have been through, it’s clear that Alaric wants no part in dealing with this madness.
Thanks to the Vampire Diaries series finale, it’s clear that there is a common link between Klaus and the school given that he makes the decision to eventually give a generous sum of money to the school, effectively giving them that much more of a start.
There is so much more speculation ripe from this video through the lens of The Originals being renewed for a fifth season. For example, is there a way for Candice King to make multiple appearances as Caroline? It’s a question worthy of a separate article in its own right, and therefore something to look out for on the site very soon.
For now, be prepared for a powerful episode that features no just the return of Davis, but also more information on the Hollow and some of the great lengths that you’re going to see these characters go in order to ensure the city of New Orleans’ safety from the chaos to come.
