NCIS season 14 finale spoilers: Mark Harmon’s Gibbs and a big decision
In the case of the NCIS season 14 finale, this time around they are choosing to be a little bit more coy about what’s coming up. They aren’t releasing a whole lot of information in advance in terms of some of the story that’s ahead, and with that, they are leaving quite a bit open to the imagination. We’ve heard that this is a key Gibbs episode, with him making a decision that could shape his future.
NCIS season 14 finale synopsis – “Gibbs, McGee and Torres travel to a remote area of Paraguay, controlled by a violent group of rebels, in an attempt to locate a missing Navy Seal who disappeared during an unsanctioned trip.”
For longtime fans of the show, one of the things that they may like is the opportunity to get Gibbs back out in the field for a serious overseas trip like this. Is it possible that taking such a trip could make him reconsider whether or not he still wants to do this sort of high-octane stuff? Sure. We’re not sure about the actor’s future on the show, but we do always wonder if Gibbs would be interested in eventually taking more of an office-based role.
As for McGee, one of the more interesting parts of the story for him will be taking part in whatever is coming here as a newly married man. Is marriage going to change him? Will he be less likely to take bigger risks now that he has a wife? For some people marriage and children don’t change how much of a dangerous role they still take in their job (like John Watson on Sherlock), but we’ve seen Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds take a step back when he realized how his job has jeopardized his home life.

No way will Gibbs even consider taking over the Director’s position. He just doesn’t have the patience for all the politics and rubber chicken dinners! Ha! But, he MAY consider backing off the more physical assignments. But then, I just can’t see him happy sitting behind a desk. They tried to do that to him before – just after his last serious injuries – and he would have no part of that. Guess we’ll just have to be patient and wait.
