Call the Midwife season 6 episode 6 teasers (PBS): Highs, lows in Poplar

Call the Midwife season 6 episode 6

Going into Call the Midwife season 6 episode 6, you are more than likely going to notice a recurring theme. There will be a few moments of levity and happiness, and then there will be others that make you want to bawl your eyes out. This is the sort of thing that you do have to expect by now, but Sunday’s episode on PBS will be even more dramatic than most.

As we start to lay out for you what is going to be coming up, remember that these are minor spoilers ahead. It’s not our intention to ruin the show or give anything major away, but if you are incredibly sensitive to such matters, you should know in advance.

1. The main case of the episode will feature genital mutilation as a primary plot point. While it may not be visually graphic, you may think it is so emotionally. Valerie Dyer is still very new to Nonnatus House, but this is almost the show throwing her from the frying pan into the fire. It’s difficult, especially when her patient and her find themselves at odds over a procedure.

2. For Trixie, things will be a little bit happier in the aftermath of meeting the dentist last week. Let’s just say that said dentist is going to be turning up again soon.

3. Shelagh will be continuing to play ahead for her future child, and with that comes change. At least this story for her will be a little bit more pleasant than what she’s been through already.

4. Sister Mary Cynthia will continue to be on the road to recovery, but it may be too early to tell what that road to recovery consists of, or just how long it will last.

5. The Cuban Missile Crisis will have a tremendous impact in terms of people’s thought process.

6. Finally, you’re Patsy update — while we cannot tell you in advance if she is in this episode or not, rest assured that the story of her and Delia is not over, and there is an explanation both for the extended absence (you’ve already heard some of it) and from the vantage point of Emerald Fennell as an actress.

Following this episode, remember that there are two more installments still to come this season — also, we’ve got some new video footage for you below to help whet your appetite.
