The Toy Box: Did Plaliens, Wiggies, Maze-O, Dueling Wizards advance?
With that, we’re left to survey the field when it comes to four other toys in Plaliens, Wiggies, Dueling Wizards, and Maze-O, who all had a chance to enter the Toy Box and state their case with the increasingly-picky kid judges. So far, they haven’t been as receptive to dolls and have favored some active, engaging ideas. Will that continue moving into the rest of the episodes? We’ll provide live updates the rest of the way here.
Wiggies – This company is all about reinventing hair. you can take a doll, change up their hair, and inject a little bit of personal style into everything that you’re doing. It’s a fun, unique concept, and there isn’t a whole lot else out there like it in terms of combining dolls with this level of creativity.
Maze-O – This maze-building product is imaginative — it may be a tad unfocused, but we do think that this is a really fun, imaginative idea that encourages kids to be creative. We don’t know what the long-term play prospects here are, but it could be fun for a single shot.
Dueling Wizards – It’s a fun idea for a game given that it features people casting spells and running around at each other, but this feels a little chaotic, almost that most kids wouldn’t know what to do with it. It’s probably best suited for people out there who larp.
Plaliens – We ultimately think that these plush aliens are rather cute, and we’d like them if we were a kid. Their big issue is being a tiny fish in a huge pond, and most kids want plush versions of characters they already know.
The decision – Who did the judges decide? At the end of the day, the kids decided that we are going to be seeing Wiggies move forward! It was about time to see a doll advance.
