Michael Jacobs reveals what Girl Meets World season 4 would’ve been

Girl Meets World season 4

As revealed yesterday, Girl Meets World season 4 isn’t going to be happening. The Disney Channel canceled the show, and there were no other suitors. As a result of that, everyone has to take a deep breath, remember the show fondly, and move on … though maybe not yet. There is one more thing to discuss.

Michael Jacobs, the creator of the show and the original Boy Meets World, promised that he would tease the arc of season 4 if the show was officially canceled. This is precisely what he did in a series of posts from the Girl Meets Writers Twitter account that he often used:

“Grateful to all who have written in support of the show. You are who we did it for. And now to keep a promise: Season 4 would’ve shown that what drew Farkle, Lucas and Zay to Riley and Maya was the deep friendship and respect they had for each other. And their relationship was the guide in how to meet the world. Especially our current world. Because to find love, friendship and respect must be at the center of it. Cory and Topanga always knew that. So, as you all meet this world, we wish you friendship, respect and love. All of us at BMW and GMW have loved bringing you these stories. We hope we have taught you to dream, try and do good. Class dismissed.”

Everything that Jacobs says within here is applicable to a lesson so many people need in the modern world. After all, remember that we live in a culture now where there are so many people who choose to be mean and spiteful rather than exhibit love and respect. This is probably even more true on social media, where the admittance of anonymity gives so many people license to be terrible to people they don’t even know. This show will serve as a reminder to keep your friends close, and show what makes a great friendship what it is.

We’ll obviously miss Girl Meets World, and we’re especially disappointed to learn that the show could not find a new home that was on a network that would’ve supported them a little bit more than the House of Mouse did. This is especially true in terms of allowing them to venture into more adult territory more applicable to the stage in Riley and Maya’s lives.
