MasterChef Junior exclusive sneak peek: Shayne and the Swedish Chef
While he may be a little bit random insofar as a guest judge for this show goes, we’re rather thrilled with getting to have him around. He may be among our top five favorite Muppets — we can also do a mean impression of him, though we’re not sure why in the world that humblebrag matters when you can’t hear us doing it from the other side of your computer.
Anyhow, the preview below features the chef and one of our favorite contestants Shayne — as a guy who grew up in Texas, we also know that great steak matters. If you struggle making it, there are millions of Texas ready and willing to throw some serious side-eye in your direction. Luckily, Shayne seems to have succeeded in his mission, much to the delight of both the Swedish Chef and the actual judges. He feels like he’s made Texas proud, and this helps his odds of making it through to the next round of the competition.
While we’re not sure having a Muppet for a judge would play well in every iteration of this show, it’s pretty perfect for the Junior edition. It plays up the spirit of fun and the imagination that you get time and time again from watching this show; these kids may be fighting for a serious prize, but they’re allowed to have a little bit of fun along the way. Also, this preview may very well make you hungry for steak. (This may be a microcosm for most of MasterChef Junior in general.)
Odds are, this interaction comes from either a Mystery Box Challenge or the elimination Challenge that follows. Signs point to this being an episode where the young chefs stay in the kitchen for the entirety of the hour, but who knows? This show does slip in a surprise every now and then.
