Outlander season 3: Caitriona Balfe’s upcoming appearance and more
As posted by Starfury Conventions and retweeted by the actress herself, you will have a chance to see Caitriona in Blackpool at the Highlanders 2 in late August. The graphic in the tweet below offers up some further information as to where to go for more information (including tickets). This convention is already set to feature a who’s-who of cast members associated with Outlander, including Sam Heughan, Rosie Day, Steven Cree, Graham McTavish, Lotte Verbeek, and many more.
There are several merits to doing conventions if you’re an actor — it’s a chance to meet more fans from all over the world while further extending the community. One of the reasons why the fan base for this show is so passionate is because there’s this feeling of personal investment. You feel as though you are part of something that is larger than just an ordinary television show.
This is not the first convention for Balfe this year — she attended Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle with Sam prior to flying out to South Africa to resume season 3 filming. (If you missed it, we’ve written out many of the highlights from that event over at the link here.) We also wrote previously about an appearance with Sam at The Land Con in France a little later this year. Outlander is also expected to return to San Diego Comic-Con a little bit later this year, and we hope to see more news on that and confirmation on attendees a little bit later this year. (For the record, SDCC is awesome, though you will incur some ridiculously-long panel lines.)
We figure that there will be some more public appearances from Balfe and Heughan later this year, though many of them may be more of a promotional capacity to get the word out about season 3. Specifically, we think that much of the month of September will be spent with the two parties doing interviews and appearing on various shows. That’s something we’ll give you more of a schedule for once we know it — right now, it is still a tad early.
