In this latest round of The Blacklist season 4 episode 18 spoilers, we’ve got Mr. Kaplan making another big reveal to Liz: Her name.

According to Entertainment Weekly (who also harbors a sneak preview for Thursday’s episode), Mr. Kaplan is going to try to lay all of our cards out on the table by convincing Liz about the truth behind who she is and the past that the two parties share. This includes her being “Katia,” the hired nanny by her mother to look after her. Sometimes, hearing specific memories can help to trigger them, even if it is not something that you remember on your own organically.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case for Liz here. She doesn’t believe Kate when she delivers the news to her, and may have a hard time grasping what her endgame now is: Setting up Reddington to deliver him to the FBI, keeping him behind bars once and for all. Kate realizes that at this point, she’s already let Liz down in her original mission of trying to protect her from the man she perceives to be a monster now more than ever. She claims that now, she’s doing this for the sake of Agnes.

Is this true? We think the answer there lies somewhere between “yes” and “no.” We do believe that Mr. Kaplan is interested in making Liz and Agnes safe, but she is minimizing definitively here her own thirst for revenge. You can’t even blame her for wanting it when you remember everything that she’s been through. This is a woman who was tortured and tormented by Red in multiple different ways, so it’s understandable that she would want to figure out some methods in which to properly fight back against him.

In the end, the biggest thing that we are is excited to see where all of this goes from here. We’ve said it a few times now, but one of the best things about Mr. Kaplan is that most of her actions are justified in that we can see what got her to this point. She represents Reddington’s biggest strengths and also some of his greatest flaws.
