The Blacklist season 4: Megan Boone teases big flashback story

With tonight marking The Blacklist season 4 returning to the air after a long delay, isn’t it right we hear from Megan Boone? Liz Keen is obviously a focal point in the entire mythology of the show, and the second episode tonight in particular will be a game-changer for the series. You’ll see Liz in the past, but also your first real glimpse as to where exactly Mr. Kaplan came from and her role in both her and Reddington’s past.

In teasing up this story in particular, Boone had the following to say to Entertainment Tonight:

“There are so many reveals … We get a bit of an origin story on Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert). It’s one of the best episodes I’ve ever read on the show, so I’m exited to share that with everybody. It tells a lot about Liz’s past as well — that’s something that people have been curious about. I’m excited to finally get some answers.”

As for how many answers you’re getting, we envision it almost being a half-and-half situation given that the show probably does want to leave a few questions open-ended so that there is something further that you have to discuss as you get a little closer to the end of the series. After all, doesn’t it make some sense that there are some more things to linger on? The biggest thing we’d love some sort of answer to at the moment is mostly whether or not we end up learning the truth about Reddington’s connection to Liz, mostly because keeping that a secret at present feels too unnecessary.

Meanwhile, we figure that Mr. Kaplan still factors into the story somewhat with Reddington and Dembe, given that we’ve deliberately seen her journey across much of the season ever since it appeared that she was killed. If there is anyone out there with a substantial motive in order to enact some sort of revenge on the organization, it’s clearly her. We’ll just have to see how she connects to everything else that is transpiring when the show comes back tonight. We’ll of course be back when not only full reviews, but further previews of what’s coming down the road on the series.
