The Good Fight season 2 premiere date: When should Rose Leslie, cast return?
Let’s start with what we know for sure — the network’s interactive division has already officially renewed the series, starring Christine Baranski, Rose Leslie, and Cush Jumbo, for a second season. CBS All Access is under no obligation to release any of their ratings, and as a result of that, they are simply not doing so. Why would you unless you had to? That’s clearly the philosophy that they seem to be taking on with some of these numbers at the moment. Presumably, it’s successful enough that they are profiting on it, and that’s enough for them to make another move.
Do we understand why there may be some people out there complaining about it? Absolutely, but this is just the way that it is. Also, we’re not sure that we would have a Good Fight season 2 premiere date to discuss otherwise given that there was no guarantee that the show was going to be coming back on the air if it was on CBS. The flagship show didn’t have the best ratings in some of its final seasons, and we largely think that it was back just because of the critical acclaim. Only a certain percentage of this viewers were likely to check out the spin-off, so the potential pool of viewers here was even smaller than it was previously … and it wasn’t all that big there to begin with.
As we start to look ahead now to some possible premiere dates, our personal preference would be for the show to premiere in early 2018, such as the first couple of weeks of January when there’s not all that much else on. The end of January / early February is probably a more likely scenario, just because that is when many other scripted shows start in the new year. The Good Fight actually premiered in the middle of February, and we’d like to see it back a little earlier than that. This premiere date caused it to get lost in the sea of sweeps.
As for the episode count, expect the show to stay in the 10-13 episode range. After doing longer seasons of The Good Fight for so many years, we don’t think executive producers Robert and Michelle King have any desire to go back to the 22-episode model.
