While you wait for X-Files season 11 renewal, here’s a worthy project…

X-Files season 11 renewal

Alas, there is still no word on an X-Files season 11 renewal, but we’re not giving up hope there for a number of different reasons. For one, the show drew enormous ratings when it aired back in 2016. Also, there’s a new project coming your way via Audible.

As the video below reveals, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and many other familiar faces from the franchise are going to be lending their voices to X-Files: Cold Cases premiering a little bit later this summer. This summer series is going to be based on Joe Harris and Chris Carter’s graphic novels, and you can see the first official video teaser for it below courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

The stories that you get here take place following the events of the X-Files: I Want to Believe feature film, but before the season 10 revival series that featured Mulder and Scully back in action after many years apart. While this may not offer too many clues as to what is coming on the series (could we actually get something more on their child?), we do feel like this should provide a few cool Easter eggs and set up the future of the series rather nicely. We know that for us, there is a heck of a lot to be excited about with this. Any chance for more official X-Files canon content is something that we’re going to be thrilled to have.

In getting back to the future of the franchise now, Fox still has a solid month to figure out precisely what they are going to be doing with the show, and we remain as optimistic as ever that they will figure out something so that they can make an announcement. We know that the actors are busy, but wouldn’t it be nice if there was a ten-episode season 11 that is made available at some point in early 2018? We’d be surprised if we got it before then, but one of the things that we’ve learned is that you really can’t rule anything out. We’re still continually surprised that we are able to discuss things related to the show here in 2017. Two years ago, would you have ever imagined that?
