Madam Secretary season 3 episode 18 sneak peek: A Hollywood deal
Specifically, this preview makes it rather clear that in order for her to make a change in the Asian country of Kyrgyzstan, she needs to find a way to get to the leader of the country. As it turns out, this is a despot with a strong sentiment or two towards stars! Getting someone like Hollywood star Ashley Whittaker to a birthday party may be enough to convince him to end human trafficking — while that may sound somewhat ridiculous on the surface, this is a ridiculous world sometimes and there are things that could feasibly happen of this persuasion. Remember, there are many brutal world leaders willing to pay pop stars millions of honors just to convince them to perform at their birthday parties. By comparison, this may not seem altogether ridiculous at all.
Given that we’re going to meet said actress in this episode, the plan may at least be attempted by Elizabeth and her crew. It’s a little harder to figure out in terms of if it will be successful or not, but it goes to show how far the State Department on this show is willing to go in order to ensure that there are some results.
As for what else is coming during the episode, Henry is going to dive in deeper on a bomb being held by a doomsday cult, and he’s going to take a look at that in order to figure out what the ultimate endgame is. Will there be a larger attack down the road? For now, you have to consider that one of many terrifying possibilities that are floating out there in the wind in terms of what could end up happening. There’s still plenty of time to go this season.
