Jessica Jones season 2 spoilers: Janet McTeer joins in major role
Jessica Jones season 2 is going to be premiering on Netflix at some point in 2018 — how about some casting news?
Earlier this week, Marvel TV and Netflix confirmed that two-time Oscar nominee Janet McTeer is going to be appearing in the cast of the Krysten Ritter series. While the statement offers up no concrete information on her character, it is someone “who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.”
Here is what Marvel’s TV head Jeph Loeb had to say regarding the casting today:
“We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet’s talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast … Our second season of ‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal.”
Meanwhile, executive producer / showrunner Melissa Rosenberg also passed along the following:
“We couldn’t possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season … Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her.”
Hopefully, this casting does find a way to get more and more people on board this show, given that this is one of the best shows within the Marvel – Netflix universe. We’ll stand up for Iron Fist as a quality show in the way that some others have not, but we do think that Daredevil season 2 hit some creative bumps in the road while Luke Cage also struggled at times when it came to handling one of its biggest problems — the simple fact that the show featured an indestructible main character, and it was hard to come up with ways to combat him. Hopefully, that is something that we hope is changed or augmented when it comes to The Defenders, the epic team-up series that will be coming a little bit later this year.
