Dancing with the Stars 24: Rashad Jennings leads week 2 underdogs

One of the things we’re going to be doing in our coverage of Dancing with the Stars 24 is changing things up when it comes to contestant rankings. With this particular season, it doesn’t make much sense to do it when it’s clear that Simone Biles and Heather Morris will be some variation of #1 and #2 for the entirety of the season. Last season, it was rather boring knowing throughout that Laurie Hernandez was probably going to win the whole show — it felt like close to a sure thing from the moment the full cast was announced.

So what we’re going to be doing in order to mix things up a little bit this season is compile every week a ranking of the three or four biggest underdogs to watch based on what we’ve seen on the season to date. These are people who were impressive in the early going, and could prove to be even more dangerous as the show progresses.

4. Normani Kordei – She started the show with an impressive routine, and she’s going to be consistently a good dancer throughout. She’s very dangerous because of the Fifth Harmony support base; the big question with her is if she can win over people who aren’t fans of the band.

3. Nick Viall – By the same token, the former Bachelor has to figure out if he can win over people like William Shatner, who dislike him based on reputation. He’s got his fans, and he was a surprisingly good dancer in the first week.

2. Nancy Kerrigan – She’s the perfect participant for this season given she fits in perfectly with the show’s average demographic. What makes her so dangerous is that she’s probably a little more relatable than some of the younger contestants. If she proves to be a great dancer over time, she could be a huge threat.

1. Rashad Jennings – We figured he would be good, but that good? His first performance oozed charisma and showed that he could be someone who actually threatens both Simone and Heather at the end. NFL players do tend to perform well on this show, and it’d make for a great story that a running back came out of nowhere and managed to unseat two of the biggest frontrunners of the entire season to date.
