Ink Master renewed for season 10; Spike orders Ink Master Angels special

Ink Master season 10

While you wait for Ink Master season 9 to premiere in June, rest assured that Ink Master season 10 is officially a go. Spike confirmed on Thursday that the long-running tattoo competition series will film an additional 16-episode season later this year, and it will be premiering in 2018 on the newly-branded Paramount Network. (If you haven’t heard, Spike will be undergoing a name change.)

Meanwhile, to go along with this news, the network also ordered today Ink Master Angels, an hour-long special featuring some of the female standouts from season 8 (winner Ryan Ashley, Kelly Doty, Nikki Simpson and Gia Rose) as they travel the country and take on some of the best artists out there. This special is set to debut later this year and to say that we are excited to see these four women back in action is an understatement!

In a statement, Chachi Senior, Senior Vice President, Original Programming for the network had the following to say:

“I’m so pleased to see Ink Master reach a milestone tenth season as it continues to be a great ratings driver for the network … The franchise has shown such amazing growth with our female audience that it is a natural progression to launch a female-fronted standalone competition, as well.”

Ink Master remains one of the network’s most-viable franchises. It has a devoted following, and fans have shown time and time again that they’ll watch the series no matter when it’s on the air or what the twist is. Granted, some of the twists have been better than others, but over all this show is one of our favorite reality shows and we have been covering the show here at CarterMatt since season 1. We are hoping for the show to go back to basics this upcoming season, and allowing the artists to focus on what they do best – giving us some incredible body art! While viewers enjoy the drama of it all, what they really tune in for are the kickass tattoos.

Do we expect a season 11 of Ink Master? Absolutely. If the past pattern holds, our expectation is that you’ll see the show renewed after season 9 airs, and before season 10 comes back on. We’re hoping for some further Ink Master season 9 news in the weeks ahead — be sure to keep track of the link here, since that’s where we will be posting further coverage.

What’s your reaction to the renewal news, and what do you want to see from future Ink Master seasons? Be sure to share now in the comments! (Photo: Spike.)
