Chicago Med season 2 spoilers: More on Will Halstead’s father

Will Halstead's father

Recently, we teased that you will be meeting Will Halstead’s father (and consequently Jay Halstead’s father) for the first time on Chicago Med season 2. Now, we’ve got some additional story details to hand down to go along with that.

We know for certain now that you will be seeing Westworld alum Louis Herthrum turn up in the April 13 episode entitled “Generation Gap,” and that this hour in general will look at the differences within parent / child or even just adult / child relationships. Will is going to be surprised when his father is admitted, and it makes things even more difficult when he learns that he was not actually brought in with his consent. This man is not the most supportive father in the world, which probably was something many people out there clued into thanks to the sole fact that we haven’t seen or heard much about this guy through two seasons of this show or four seasons of Chicago PD. For the record, it’s also now confirmed that Jesse Lee Soffer will be bringing Jay Halstead over to Chicago Med for the episode.

For those worrying about whether or not family relationships will get in the way of the job getting done, Will is not the person who will be treating his father — that honor instead goes more towards Connor Rhodes. In working with Halstead’s father, Rhodes will start to think about the relationship between him and his own dad.

As for some of the other family conflicts that are going to be present during this episode…

Dr. Charles – He will grow increasingly concerned over his daughter’s well-being after she starts to exhibit some increasingly odd behavior.

Dr. Manning – A young boy is brought in after being neglected, and that makes her wonder about her own status as a mother with an incredibly hectic job.

Dr. Reese – She’s tasked with arguably the hardest job of all — getting teenagers in high school to pay attention to her. She’ll try to teach students, using fake dolls, about the responsibilities of having a child. There’s great comedic potential here, but our heart goes out to her and then some.
