The Walking Dead season 7 finale: Andrew Lincoln sets up unique episode
We do expect some sort of battle breaking out between Rick’s group and the Saviors, but beyond that, the story of the finale is still unclear. For the time being, all we can say for certain is that it should be exciting. Specifically, here is what star Andrew Lincoln had to say on the subject of the story’s ending in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:
“There’s a palpable sense of energy and excitement in that final episode … I think that the crew felt it, this sort of brilliancy. And it was weird because it was the end of a long season and yet everybody was sort of champing at the bit to keep going. I’ve never felt that before in the show. Everybody was like, ‘Yeah, darn it, let’s do season 8 now!’ It was a really unique situation and everybody felt it. So I think if we get it right, it will be an incredibly satisfying ending to season 7.”
If you can find a way to get the cast this engaged in the process of telling the story at this point in the series’ run, you know that you’re doing something right. After all, this is a show with a lengthy production schedule, and an exhausting one to boot. There’s only so much energy that any one person has, so by the time you make it to the end of production we have to imagine that there is a certain desire for many people affiliated with the show to just sit down and enjoy a long nap before season 8 begins.
Before we get to the finale, we do have one more story to get to! If you head over here, you can see some of the first details on the penultimate episode … and also a preview for the final two episodes at large.
