Bates Motel season 5 episode 6 promo: Is infamous shower scene next?

There are few moments within Psycho that are more significant or iconic than the one with Marion Crane and the shower. Now, Bates Motel season 5 episode 6 is getting to that moment on the next new episode of the show.

The first thing that we should point out here is a simple matter of the story’s title: “Marion.” If you ever needed a further sense of either validation or verification as to what’s coming, you get that from the name alone here. This is going to be the story of Rihanna’s character perhaps more so than even anything that we saw tonight. We also know that the producers for the show are having to cram everything in, given that they only had so much time to film with Rihanna due to her tour. We’re not sure if she’ll be a part of the show beyond this episode, but it does appear that the shower scene is coming before “Marion” comes to a close.

Will there be something more mentioned regarding the scene tonight with Norman’s sexuality? It’s a good question, but personally, we’re not expecting much more given that his sexuality wasn’t a big part of Psycho, and given the time that the movie came out, that does make a little more sense. Here, the writers have a little bit more flexibility to tell some of the stories that they want in the way in which they want to tell them. It’s a different time period for one, and you’ve also got a whole lot more time to tell these stories. After all, you’ve got a show here with 50 episodes as opposed to a feature film lasting just a matter of hours. We still don’t have any indication as to how Bates Motel is going to end precisely even with the source material in mind, and that alone is exciting to us.

To be fair, it’d be easy to be excited even if the show was more of a straight-up adaptation. After all, we’re gearing up now to a moment that the show’s been setting up for almost its entirety. Here’s to hoping that it finds a way to deliver.
