While yesterday we wrote about two runaway victories within our TV Madness article series, today, we’re discussing two close calls instead in Once Upon a Time and Supernatural. The two fought in some close showdowns in the first round — as a matter of fact, Supernatural won by just one vote to get to this point! It’s the closest polling result of any that we’ve done on the site in the past five years we’ve been doing polls.
Will we get a result as close this time around? It’s hard to imagine so, but we’re still hoping for something as equally dramatic and as contested. Voting is going to be open here between now and then March 22, when some of the final results will be unearthed here and the winner has Herculean challenge of having to face off against either reigning champion Outlander or Major Crimes. Basically, this is the part of the bracket that tests your mettle like nobody’s business.
Once Upon a Time (#3 seed) – So far, the show’s run in the tournament is fairly indicative of its run last year, which ended in a second-place finish. It was able to compete against some of the other shows and defeat many of them, but it was never a runaway win. Just like many of the heroes within the show itself, there are always a wide array of close calls and tricky situations that it ends up pulling itself out of. We’ll see whether or not Sam and Dean Winchester prove to be an insurmountable challenge for it this year. This is a show where dreams often become reality, so use that as your inspiration.
Supernatural (#7 seed) – Supernatural entering our tournament this year as a little bit of a wild card. While it’s certainly performed well in some fan votes across the internet in the past, it also hadn’t performed well in any site polls over the past three years. It did manage to eke out that victory against SVU, but now it faces a far bigger challenge against a show known for having these close victories time and time again. If the #SPNFamily does come out strong, we really do think that there are no limits to how far they can go here.
Now, we turn this over to you! Vote however often in the poll below as you’d like, and rest assured that we will be back tomorrow with the latest showdown in the series! Happy voting!
