Grey’s Anatomy season 13: Kevin McKidd on Owen and Amelia’s future
Obviously, we hope some given that we’ve been championing the couple at the site for a rather long time now. We love both Kevin McKidd and Caterina Scorsone, and with that, we’d love to see something work out here. Unfortunately, it’s also fairly tough to be that optimistic based on where we’re at. We know that the two are due for a “talk” (to use the words from this past episode), but that doesn’t mean that said talk goes well. They have many different things to work out.
Speaking in a new interview with E! News, McKidd himself offered up an update on the status of the relationship, making it rather clear that while things aren’t looking great at present, the relationship is also not definitively over … at least for the time being:
“It’s a hard one because she’s got all these demons. He does too. And now they’ve hit against this big issue of the baby. Owen has always imagined having a family, and now she seems to be changing her view on that. So that’s going to be a big issue for them … I’ll be interested to see what happens, but, at the moment, it’s not looking good. I have to say, it’s not looking good. But sometimes that’s what’s so interesting about the show and I think what’s clever about the show is that it looks like the story’s pulling you in one direction and one thing will happen and it will change everything.”
What could that one thing be here? There’s a possibility that it could be some wonderfully romantic gesture, but it’s also possible that it could come through despair or tragedy. There are many times in our everyday lives in which sometimes great things are born out of darkness and tough times, and this is something that you really do have to be prepared for with this show constantly. While there are in fact times in which things are very good for these characters, they also don’t last incredibly long.
New episodes of Grey’s Anatomy will continue airing on Thursdays, and while the next new installment (watch the promo here) may be mostly about Jackson and April, Owen and Amelia will emerge as important parts of the story not too long after that.
