Better Call Saul season 3 promo: Get your Gus Fring on

Better Call Saul season 3

Who doesn’t love an opportunity or two to discuss Gus Fring? He’s a big part of the latest Better Call Saul season 3 promo … at least due to the simple reason that he’s a part of it.

In the new clip via Entertainment Weekly, you can get a tiny glimpse of Gus at the very end of the clip. This is what we like to call Friendly Fring, otherwise known as the version of the character that he likes to put on for much of the public to see. There’s a very clear distinction here between this side of the character and Fiery Fring, which is the one that you really don’t want to mess with since he’s the one who effectively ruins lives and murders people.

It remains to be seen in the third season precisely what sort of stage Fring’s in within his own life when he first surfaces. For now, our assumption is that he will turn up as a result of the story with Mike Ehrmantraut. We don’t exactly think it is pure coincidence that someone left a note reading “don’t” on his car. This is meant to be a small tease into the new associates Mike could have … provided that he listens to them.

Beyond all things Gus (as difficult as it may be to move on), there are some other cool glimpses of some McGill family drama in the promo. Remember for a split second here that at the end of Better Call Saul season 2, we had a further glimpse of precisely how wicked Chuck McGill was and how willing he would be to throw his own brother under the bus if it meant getting a leg up himself. He always wants to feel like the superior brother, and following his latest attempt at sabotage — which included recording a conversation with Jimmy — he could end up getting Bob Odenkirk’s character in prison. We see prison jumpsuits in the clip, and this comes after a recent promo for the show featured Jimmy getting booked for a mugshot.

New episodes of Better Call Saul season 3 will premiere this April. Hopefully, there will be a chance to see another promo or two before we get around to that date. We’d certainly love a chance to see more of Gus beyond a second or two.
