The Voice preview: See Kawan Debose’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ blind audition

Kawan DeBose's blind audition -

Leading into Monday night’s new episode of The Voice, we’ve got Kawan DeBose’s blind audition for you to check out right now!

If you look below, you can see the self-described working musician taking on a version of the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get It On” hoping to impress the coaches. Let’s just say that he figures out a great way to do that. While he has a super-soulful, incredible addictive voice, but he’s got stage presence to boot. You can always tell when someone’s been working in the business for a little while leading up to the audition, mostly given that he has such a swagger and a style on the stage that you don’t just naturally wake up one day and get. Granted, it’s not like the judges can actually see that when he starts the performance. They do all eventually turn around other than Alicia Keys, so he gets a chance to really pick who he wants to work with rather than having it selected for him.

Why didn’t Alicia turn around? Well, she didn’t give much of an admission of that, but she did tell him that she loved his voice. (To be fair, Alicia’s got a stacked team already — maybe she’s interested in spreading the wealth around a little bit?) She advocates in here for Adam Levine to end up getting him, which is something that Blake Shelton seems to be rather upset with. He of course wants to have him for himself, and some squabbling ensues.

In true Voice fashion, you’ll find out who Kawan goes with tonight; personally, we’d advocate for anyone other than Blake. There’s just too much evidence out there right now of country artists having the advantage on his team both with him and his fans. It’s going to be hard for someone of a different genre to absolutely kill it. It’d be one thing if he was the only choice, but Adam’s team members have a good track record of doing well. They also have come from all musical walks of life.
