A look at Shades of Blue season 2, episode 2 and beyond (full trailer)

Shades of Blue season 2, episode 2 -

Shades of Blue is effectively a show about secrets. Everyone keeps them, and in some cases, they use them as a form of currency. Tonight’s episode featured Harlee trying to pick up the pieces from what she did at the tail end of season 1, and in the process start to realize, alongside Wozniak, that Stahl is starting to become unhinged. He’s got a new target, and while that may be troublesome for him, it’s excellent for us as a viewer given that it means a chance to see Anna Gunn on the show.

Let’s put things in this way — even if you are not a major Breaking Bad viewer, you’re going to want to have Gunn on the show. Plus, Julia Ayers is a part that is different in so many ways than any that you’ve seen her plan on the show before. This affords her a chance to explore a role that is certainly complex, for at least as long as we may see her.

For more specifically on Shades of Blue season 2, episode 2, the synopsis below is a good indicator of what’s coming next week:

“Following Wozniak’s (Ray Liotta) discovery that Stahl’s (Warren Kole) target is his close friend and Mayoral Candidate, Julia Ayers (guest star Anna Gunn), Wozniak launches an all-out war with Stahl. Meanwhile, Harlee (Jennifer Lopez) dives into an investigation that takes an unexpected turn into her own past – and ultimately throws her in the cross-hairs of Wozniak and the FBI. At the precinct, a new, unwelcome presence threatens to uncover the crew’s deepest secrets.”

Does the trailer below have a few teases from next week’s episode? Probably, but this is also one of those “this season” promos that is meant to get you hyped for everything that is coming down the road. Personally, this is not a trend we advocate for many different reasons, with the biggest one being simply that they create undue expectations. Let’s say, for example, that you see Harlee shouting “officer down!” at the end of the clip. Because of the way our mind works, plus our natural tendencies with promos, the assumption from here is to think automatically that this means we’re getting this moment next week. That may not be the case.

Plus, if you enjoy a show enough, do you really need a preview of an entire season to be excited?
