Gotham season 3 casts Game of Thrones alum as Ra’s al Ghul

Ra's al Ghul -

Apparently,  Arrow is not the only comic-book show on TV anymore to have a version of Ra’s al Ghul.

Sources confirm today that the third season of Gotham on Fox has officially cast Game of Thrones and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine actor Alexander Siddig in the role of Ra’s, who on the show is going to be the elusive, mysterious leader of the Court of Owls running the city. He obviously has other mysterious affiliations beyond that, but this is something that we’re probably going to figure out more of as we get further along into the story.

There is no telling how long the show version of Ra’s is going to stick around for, but given the Batman comics, there’s no way that Gotham will kill him off unless they want to completely throw the show’s canon into the first.

For Arrow, we saw the character played by Matt Nable, and they presented him more as the leader of the League of Assassins and someone who developed a complicated relationship with Oliver Queen. It was obviously a very different dynamic than the one that you’ve seen with Ra’s and Bruce Wayne, one depicted very well by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. Maybe, this is a character who could continue to be relevant as the show moves into what would be fourth season. It hasn’t been renewed for that just yet, but for the time being, we remain very much confident as to what’s going on. The ratings are decent for Fox, and while the show could be pricey in some ways to film, we’ve still got every reason in the world to be reasonably confident that we’re going to be able to emerge from the chaos of the renewal – cancellation season okay.

Alas, Gotham won’t be returning on Fox until you get around to April, but if you head over here right away, you can get some more news about what’s coming … including news on a really big episode for the Riddler.
