Ratings: ‘Timeless’ finale helps season 2 odds; ‘The Bachelor’ rises; ’24: Legacy’ sinks

Timeless -For everyone out there hoping to see “Timeless” renewed by NBC for another season, you do have one thing to celebrate in a major way on Tuesday: The ratings performance of the show’s finale!

Monday’s episode “The Red Scare” ended up generating in total a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic, the show’s best rating since December. It had the benefit of getting a slight finale bump and also aired after a better lead-in courtesy of an “American Ninja Warrior” special. The show’s season 2 future remains up in the air, but we remain committed to our own pitch of bringing the show back to take the timeslot of “Grimm” on Friday night. With fewer ratings expectations there, the show could thrive and hopefully pick up some more family viewers at an earlier hour than 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, when so many people are already going to bed. (We’re thinking of adopting #TimelessFridays as our hashtag.)

As for everything else on the air last night…

Great news for “The Bachelor” – The rich get richer, as last night’s Hometown Dates generated in total a season-high 2.5 rating in the demo. Remember all of those people threatening to not watch because they didn’t like Nick Viall? Well, ABC is laughing all the way to the bank at the moment. They’re killing it with this season, and it’s their most-popular show on the schedule.

More bad news for Fox – The ratings for “24: Legacy” just keep sinking. Today, we saw the show slip down to a 1.0 rating in the demo, and its timeslot companion of “APB” fared even worse with a 0.8. All of a sudden, the “Gotham” – “Lucifer” one-two punch is looking rather impressive.

Just consider this further evidence that airing after the Super Bowl these days does almost NOTHING when it comes to boosting your show’s overall ratings. If “Legacy” goes under a 1.0, it starts to become challenging to see it brought back for another season.
