‘MasterChef’ adds Aarón Sánchez as permanent judge for season 8

MasterChef -For those wondering if “MasterChef” was ever going to add a permanent judge for the upcoming eighth season of the show, wonder no more!

Earlier this week, the show officially confirmed that Aarón Sánchez, “Chopped” star and chef extraordinaire, is going to be one of the permanent judges next season. He’ll be joining Gordon Ramsay (who has been a part of the show from the beginning) and Christina Tosi on the panel in the coming months, which will hopefully also lead to him taking part in some other iterations of the show moving forward.

We last saw Aarón Sánchez on the show as a guest judge this past summer, which was when the Fox series opted to rotate in various contestants as a means to fill the spot left by Graham Elliot. After “MasterChef Junior” didn’t pick up a third judge, we wondered if the flagship show was even going to add someone else to the table; however, they now officially have!

This is a good choice for the panel, given that you’re hardly taking a gamble here. Sánchez is someone who has proven experience as a television personality, he’s authentic, and he cooks a very different style of food than either of the other judges. You want the people taking part in the show to bring different styles and points of view to the proceedings, and it’s fair to say that he’ll do that. Also, he’ll be entertaining at the same time.

The eighth season of “MasterChef” proper should premiere on Fox later this summer. It remains one of the network’s marquee summer shows, and it’s not hard to figure out why — it’s the sort of show that makes for great family viewing, and it has that wonderfully inspiration quality to it that stems from having people from all walks of life coming into the kitchen, hoping to make some of their dreams come true.
