‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: Here’s your first look at Solovar!
“The Flash” is really a show like no other, mostly because there are not many other occasions out there that we could EVER envision sitting down here and writing an article about CGI gorillas. Yet, that is precisely what we’re doing going into Tuesday night’s new episode entitled “Escape from Gorilla City.”
The photo above is your first look at Solovar, the powerful head of the city as voiced by Keith David, a man we certainly love thanks to “Enlisted,” “Community,” and a wide array of other things. The impetus for the story revolves around Grodd kidnapping Earth-2 Harrison Wells, which in turn leads to Barry Allen coming over with several of his friends (including Julian, who is getting a chance to both sport his Indiana Jones costume and come over to Earth-2 for the first time). They are going to do their best to rescue him, and in the process, they’ll certainly learn a few things about the politics over at Gorilla City. Grodd, to the surprise of no one, wants to be king of the castle. How far is he willing to go in order to make that happen.
This episode is the first of two parts — in the second part, the action will work its way back to Central City, with Grodd once again at the focus. Still, we don’t want to get TOO far ahead of ourselves here. The biggest thing to be impressed by here is the superb work of the visual artists and all of the other people who’ve really worked overtime in order to try to bring these characters to look. Go ahead, TRY to tell us the last time that you saw a CGI gorilla look this good … and potentially terrifying. Look at those teeth! We have no idea how the show has the budget to pull some of this stuff off, but we’re absolutely grateful that they do.
Who’s guarding Central City? – While Barry is away, Wally will man the fort — also, he’s going to have some help courtesy of Jesse Quick. We’re sure that he won’t mind the company…
