‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 13 preview: April settles in with new promotion

April -Tonight, “Grey’s Anatomy” is an episode entitled “It Only Gets Much Worse,” and here’s a little bit of food for thought — episodes that are entitled “It Only Gets Much Worse” don’t often in with someone frolicking through a meadow or singing about how happy they are. Unless Shonda Rhimes is in the midst of doing some EPIC trolling of us, this does not look good — at all — for many of the show’s characters.

Even the characters with some good news in their live may see things go south for them quickly, and based on the sneak peek below, April is a fine example of that very thing. She did just get a promotion — effectively, she’s doing Meredith’s job now, and not everyone’s going to be happy about it. Specifically, we’re looking at Richard Webber as a prime example of that.

In the sneak peek, April does her best to break the news to Dr. Webber that Ben is going to be taking a surgery that was at one point meant for him, and he is none too pleased with it. The tension here becomes apparent when he realizes that April’s decisions are more in lockstep with Bailey, and we all know how Webber fells about Bailey right now! He feels as though much of his authority and influence at the hospital is slowly being sapped away, and there isn’t much of an indication at the moment that the momentum is stopping or moving into another direction.

Hopefully, everyone gets a chance in this episode to work on some of their issues — a happy operating room means doctors that are better equipped to care for their patients. Unfortunately, though, we’ve got a feeling that everything is going to get worse before it starts to get better. Hence, we go back to the title like a broken record.
