‘Saturday Night Live’: Kellyanne Conway responds to ‘Fatal Attraction’ – Jake Tapper sketch

SNL -

There were of course many great sketches from last night’s Alec Baldwin-hosted episode of “Saturday Night Live,” but one that has generated a ton of discussion over the past half-day or so is the one featuring Kate McKinnon playing a “Fatal Attraction” version of Kellyanne Conway after Jake Tapper (Beck Bennett) refused to have her on his show, citing her credibility.

This sketch to us was funny mostly because it was so crazy and intentionally silly, but at the same time it’s certainly polarizing — and by that, we mostly mean that if you’re a conservative viewer, you probably hate it. It’s basically the same thing that you could say about every single sketch that the show is doing these days.

There is one thing that we can say about the reaction to the sketch from Conway: At least she took it better than President Donald Trump has over the course of the past year or so anytime someone comes out and does an impression of him. He’s blasted the show repeatedly, while Kellyanne, much like Sean Spicer before her, chose to give a reaction that was more akin to “laughing it off.” She claimed that she and Tapper spoke this morning following the sketch, and it seems to be that all is well.

For Tapper’s part, he posted online that he thought the spoof was “funny,” so it doesn’t seem as though there is any outrage on either one of their parts. There’s been a lot of sentiment out there that Trump doesn’t like many of his team members being made fun of on the show, but the reaction to that by “SNL” seems to be to simply do it more. Therefore, the better reaction to this situation for Trump or anyone else would be to just smile and laugh this off. You’re probably not going to draw nearly as much attention to it at the end of the day doing this than you would otherwise.
