‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: Could Jo’s ex turn up soon? Justin Chambers talks possibility

On Thursday night’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy,” we had a chance to get some verification on some rather-great news when it comes to a certain Alex Karev: He’s not in prison! Specifically, we learned more as to why, as Andrew confirmed that he dropped the charges against him. The big twist here was that he’s not so interested in talking about the why more so than just going about his business.

While there is no telling at the moment if we’re going to be learning this news in the near future, there is one other possibility that is worth discussing: Jo’s ex (who is still technically her husband) turning up later this season. This would obviously be huge to her given that she is spending her life in hiding, even to the point where she cannot use her former name to anyone. Also, this would be huge for Alex, given that he wants to protect Jo and this is a true threat who would be turning up in Seattle. His first instinct would probably be to fight him, but then you have to remember that Alex just went to prison over this.

In speaking on this subject further in a new piece with TVLine, Justin Chambers had the following to say as to whether or not we could be seeing this guy turn up sooner rather than later:

“I can only tease that there’s a possibility. It’ll be interesting to see how Alex will react [if and when he shows up]. Because he’s already in a lot of trouble.”

The biggest thing that you have to remember here is rather simple: This is a show executive-produced by Shonda Rhimes. Therefore, this is a show where such story threads are almost sure to come out eventually. It gives the writers so much more material to work with that way.
