‘The Blacklist’ season 4, episode 13 preview: Is Red afraid of Isabella Stone?

The Blacklist logo any seasonOne of Reddington’s strongest qualities on “The Blacklist” is to never show much fear, even if there are threats of the entire around around him crumbling. However, in the sneak peek below (via TV Guide) for Thursday night’s new episode entitled “Isabella Stone,” you see a more fearful side of James Spader’s character than what you are most likely used to seeing.

As it turns out there, is also a fairly tangible reason for this fear to come out of Reddington’s eyes and his lips: Stone has him set firmly in his crosshairs. This is a kill-or-be-killed situation, at least metaphorically, that he is being faced with. He tells Liz Keen in the preview that he’s already lost a courier at the hands of her, and he knows specifically what her goal is: The destruction of a character by any means necessarily. This sometimes means leaking a scandal that causes a public breakdown, or it can mean murder. She wants to devastate a person to their core, which is why Red makes it clear to Liz that she needs to be careful. Once Stone realizes just how important she is to him, she’ll become a quick target of Stone’s organization.

Is Isabella operating for herself, or was she hired by somebody else? That is one of the larger questions that you are forced to wonder looking into this upcoming episode. One thing we do know either way is that we’re excited to see this particular story play out, largely because of the fact that Isabella Stone is drawing so much fear from Red — it also helps that she’s being played by Melora Hardin, who we know for playing Michael Scott’s former boss and lover Jan on “The Office.”

One thing that we’re certainly anticipating one way or the other here is that “Isabella Stone” the episode will only continue to build the current mythology for Red and Liz, while also continuing to push forward a story about Tom and his family that leads to “The Blacklist: Redemption.” There’s a reason that Tom’s father is mentioned in the preview.
