‘The X Factor’ UK act Reggie ‘N Bollie dropped by Syco label

Reggie -

The latest act to receive the guillotine from “The X Factor” UK is in, and this shouldn’t come as too great of a shock: Reggie ‘N Bollie are done with the Syco label after just two singles and no album over the past year since first signing a deal following their second-place finish.

Both the group and Syco have confirmed that they are not working together anymore, with Reggie ‘N Bollie now planning to move forward and make independent music. Odds are, they’ll continue to stick in their wheelhouse of providing fun, catchy dance music with a reggae twist. Their biggest challenge as a group is that they’re all about the singles as opposed to the albums. You’re not listening to them for the great singing or the emotional resonance, and therefore their entire success moving forward is really all about finding the right song that catches fire all over Britain and then the world.

Even though this deal didn’t work out, we’re still so happy that these two guys were a part of the singing show in the first place. They brought something different to the mix, a sense of fun and energy that isn’t often there. We weren’t stuck hearing the same ballads every week with them, and they defied expectations for what this show can be. Their biggest issue is simply that “The X Factor” is not the platform that it once was, and getting millions of people to cast a free vote for you does not mean that they would be willing to go on and spend money on music many months later when they’ve moved on to other things.

This is the ultimate catch-22 with this show: You need to have new music ready for the contestants who appear on it almost immediately once the show ends; however, at the same time there are very few ways to make quality music within that span of time. That’s why their ultimate hope is that they find some one-in-a-million singer / songwriter who comes off the show with some incredible singles already at the ready.
