‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 18: Fin’s roots to take center stage in ‘No Surrender’

Law & Order: SVU logoIf you do love Ice-T’s character of Fin on “Law & Order: SVU,” we come bearing some great news: There is an upcoming episode of the show that is going to revolve heavily around the character as we start to explore a little bit more of his past.

This opportunity is going to come courtesy of “No Surrender,” which is the next new installment of the show that is coming on the air on Wednesday, February 22. The story here is fairly easy to describe: Fin will look back at his own military history while trying to work with a fellow Army Ranger (Sarah Booth) who is having a difficult time recovering from a sexual assault. NBC does not tend to give up a wide array of details for some of their upcoming episodes in advance, but this superficially seems as though it could focus heavily on the issues that still pervade when it comes to rape within the military. Hopefully, Fin and the rest of the SVU team will be able to help her overcome her struggles and potentially bring about some sort of justice. Given the nature of this show, it’s a fair assumption that there is a case surrounding her in some way.

Unfortunately, there is no new episode of the series tonight, but next week you’re going to have an opportunity to see the 400th episode (directed by Mariska Hargitay). Meanwhile, beyond that the February 15 episode entitled “Great Expectations” is going to look prominently at an issue in hazing that occurs within the world of youth sports. Within three episodes, you’ll see three very different sort of themes and very different sort of cases. Hopefully, this will help you make it through the hiatus.

As for “No Surrender” in particular, we’re always happy to have a Fin episode, just for the sake of getting his continual perspective on the job and his evolution as a character.

As always, we welcome some of your thoughts on this story in the comments below! (Photo: NBC.)
