‘Timeless’ debate: Should Wyatt ever bring his wife Jessica back?
Tonight, “Timeless” on NBC delivered one of its most-powerful poignant stories, and it was one that put the character of Wyatt front and center. We saw him do everything in his power in order to protect his wife Jessica, but in the end, what we saw was that none of it really mattered in the end. Not only did going back in time not save her, but he ended up killing a man who was meant to be the father of Wes Gilliam down the road.
Is this the end of him trying to bring Jessica back? For now, you have to say yes just because of the fact that there is no other clear answer as to what he can do about this.
Was Garcia Flynn lying about Wes Gilliam? At the moment, this is the biggest question that we have. If he knows the real name of Jessica’s killer, then you could consider him to be a possible resource down the road. If he was misinformed or simply does not know, then he’s useless. Either way, there’s very little hope that Wyatt is ever going to trust him again.
We understand that there are multiple camps out there: Those who ‘ship Wyatt and Lucy, and those who want to see him successful in this quest. Personally, we find ourselves falling somewhere in between. There is interesting story that could come with Jessica being alive in the present, mostly in that the consequences of it could be far worse than he realizes. However, there is also something about the idea of him and Lucy, these two people who’ve went through such tremendous loss, coming together over time.
What we just want is for Wyatt to get his closure with Jessica before anything ever materializes between himself and Lucy. Otherwise, he’s never going to let this go, and it will always linger around in the back of his mind. We see all of this now as more of a season 2 story, largely because there are only so many episodes left.
While we’re at it, can we throw it out there that the show should be renewed for another season? Please?
