‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8, episode 14 preview: Will Callen break free?
The last we saw “NCIS: Los Angeles” on the air, everything was going to hell in a hand-basket for the various members of the team. Callen, Sam, and Deeks all found themselves arrested in a vast conspiracy, seemingly orchestrated by the mole, in order to bring down NCIS. In the process, we also saw Undersecretary Duggan shot in the closing minutes of this past episode.
Suffice it to say, the team’s in a bad spot, and it’s hard to necessarily know what Callen is trying to do (at least upon first glance) in the first sneak peek below from Sunday’s “Under Siege.” He seems to be more than happy to play the role of antagonist, deliberately getting his interrogator riled up by taking his gun away. He had to know this wasn’t going to work, right? Even if he got the gun, he’s in a building WHERE EVERYONE HAS GUNS.
Well, here’s the thing: Callen may have had a different plan all along, one that involved taking said gun and using it as a distraction. After thinking about this scene for a minute, we wonder if he snatched his phone or something else of value in the midst of his stunt. Anything to get a chance to bust out of there, right?
The second sneak peek is slightly lighthearted, though at the same time it’s geared around three of our remaining heroes in Kensi, Beale, and Nell all working together to resolve the crisis at large. Hetty, knowing that both her job and her life are on the line, is off in the wind. With teamwork, it’s possible that the team figures this out … but it’s not going to be easy. This may be the biggest series of obstacles that we’ve ever seen them take on since the start of the show. It may be a difficult thing for them to deal with, but from the vantage point of us as a viewer, we do have to concede that this is all very much delicious to watch.
