‘UnREAL’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Masters of Sex’ star Cailin Fitzgerald to play new Suitor

For its upcoming third season, “UnREAL” on Lifetime is shaking things up and introducing something new: A female Suitor! The past two seasons have been a chance to see two very different men in the lead role, and let’s just say that “Everlasting” was complete Crazy Town with these two in charge.

Well, let’s just say that for the upcoming third season, we’re going be seeing something a little bit different — and we have to say that we already love the casting. Sources confirm that “Masters of Sex” alum Caitlin Fitzgerald, who played the role of Libby for all four seasons of the Showtime drama, is going to be starring now as Serena, the leading lady who will be looking for love on the “Bachelor”-esque show that is mocked and ridiculed over the course of the season. While there may be a premise here that is all about love, the reality here is that we’re going to be seeing Rachel, Quinn, and the rest of the crew do what they can in order to bring about chaos.

Now, the next order of business is going to be trying to find some of the guys, but we do think that getting a great lead will make that process easier. This is a season that is hoping to be a comeback for the show; while we personally enjoyed many elements of what we had a chance to see last season with Darius (BJ Britt) as the new Suitor, at the same time there were many people who clearly were not a fan of some of the story twists that were developed. Specifically, there was a feeling that things went a little too ridiculous and off-the-rails in an effort to one-up what we’d seen the season before.

This news does help to make things a little easier given that Showtime canceled “Masters of Sex” recently — while they did give you some closure in the form of Bill and Virginia’s wedding, there was so much more of the story to tell.
