‘American Crime Story’ could focus on Bill Clinton – Monica Lewinsky saga in season 4 or beyond

FX -One of the reasons why the first season of “American Crime Story” was so notable from the start was because of the fact that it focused on the OJ Simpson trial, one of the most notable events of the past several decades in terms of defining the legal system.

Based on what we’re hearing now, the show could also be looking to focus on one of the biggest Presidential scandals of all time in the coming years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, an upcoming season revolving around Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky is slowly being developed behind the scenes, and this could air at some point down the road. (Specifically, Jeffrey Toobin’s A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President has been optioned as a possible source for the upcoming season.)

Is this the fourth season of the show after the Hurricane Katrina-themed story and then also the one Versace one? It’s certainly possible. However, with that being said you’re going to be waiting for a very long time to see it happen — think 2019. The aforementioned two seasons are both airing in 2018.

As for whether or not doing this season is a great idea, in all honesty we’re not so sure. Given the Presidential Election, there are a lot of people who are still feeling some raw emotions surrounding all that happened there. Maybe in a couple of years that sentiment will change, but for the time being we could see this being one of the more controversial versions of the show — and that could be saying something given the material that they’re going to be touching on leading up to it.

What do you think about the idea of another “American Crime Story” focusing on this? Would you want to watch? Share in the comments, and head over here to get some other news related to the series from the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour this week.

Ultimately, the thing to remember here is that this is all very early. There is a lot of time for things to change, and as a result of that, it’s hard to say what this potential season could look like. (Photo: FX.)
