Karen Gillan open to ‘Doctor Who’ return for season 10 or beyond

Doctor Who -One of the great things about doing “Doctor Who” these days is that it does really seem like you can leverage that job into a million different amazing gigs. For example, Jenna Coleman is now on “Victoria,” Matt Smith has “The Crown,” and David Tennant had an excellent role on “Jessica Jones.” We have to imagine that Peter Capaldi will also get plenty of offers at some point for other work.

For Karen Gillan, she’s got an opportunity to do both TV and film work, and that includes Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” She will be appearing in the next edition of the film franchise, but speaking to TheWrap, she also made it clear that she would be more than happy to return to “Doctor Who” at some point in the future, whether it be in season 10 or some other point beyond:

“If they ask me, I would be back there in a shot, but I think I’m more excited about seeing Pearl take over as companion, because she was amazing.”

As for why Gillan says “was,” maybe she was a fan of hers from the teaser that was floated around out there? It’s as good a guess as any. We already know that she’s happy to return if called upon, since she paid a visit to help saw farewell to when Smith’s Eleven regenerated. At some point, we’d love for there to be an epic companion reunion where The Doctor has a chance to work with a wide array of them over the course of a single episode. Given everything we just said about busy schedules and the like, we have to figure that this is a difficult thing to pull off in a way where you would get everyone that you like.

Season 10 will be premiering this spring. There is no formal premiere date, but if you do want to get some further news on all things “Doctor Who” while you wait around for more announcements, you’re going to be able to do so by heading over to the link here.
