Here’s the Donald Trump – ‘Saturday Night Live’ criticism you were expecting

SNL -Just when we all thought the world was safe from hearing a Donald Trump criticism of “Saturday Night Live,” the President-elect still found a way to come out with one … just a little bit later than usual.

The evidence? Of course, it’s the tweet below. He actually found a way to make this one a twofer, going after both NBC News and “SNL” at the same time. He also referred to it as a “hit job,” one of his favorite words to describe it. Quick reminder: He just hosted the show a year and a half ago, so all of these people he is calling “terrible” just so happen to also be the same people who were nice and helped him back when he was in charge of doing some of the sketches.

Anyhow, bashing “SNL” has become in some ways one of Trump’s Twitter games, and the irony here is that the more that he says these sort of negative things about the show, the more and more likely that it seems that the writers are going to throw sketches bashing him out there for everyone to see. There is so much value to them given that they generate huge ratings, they are enormously successful online, and they get headlines ever after the fact. If Trump didn’t hate them so much, odds are they would be much less of a big deal.

If you were to say that “SNL” is actually unusually when it comes to their treatment of Trump, you would be right — before the past year, they tended to have more of a habit of being nonpartisan in their humor. With that said, though, he’s certainly making it hard for them to be down the middle this season.

This is not the first time that someone from Trump’s team has spoken out negatively about this show this weekend. Earlier today, the President-elect’s spokesman bashed the show. You can see that over at the link here.

Meanwhile, be on the lookout for more news over the coming days. Just remember that the next show hosted by Aziz Ansari is set to be the first one for Trump as acting President. You better believe that the show is going to go hard. (Photo: NBC.)
