‘Madam Secretary’ season 3, episode 12 preview: To fly or not to fly

MadamThe third season of “Madam Secretary” came back on the air this past week with “Gift Horse,” an episode that served several different purposes. In terms of comedy, seeing Elizabeth McCord struggling with a Mongolian horse crisis proved to be rather fun. However, at the same time you also had Russell deciding to go for the jugular on Sam Evans with the medical records, effectively ending his attempt at the lawsuit so that America can “heal” and get itself into a better place … or something to that extent.

Going into tomorrow night’s new episode entitled “The Detour,” we do have a certain degree of high expectations for the story to continue to bring so many different variables and dynamics to the table. The sneak peek below is just a small taste of what’s to come, as you see a debate break out between Elizabeth and her team over a potential visit to Africa to take part in an aid mission. There’s some resistance to the idea, but some of that has to do with a certain team members displeasure towards plane rides. (This one would be particularly long, so we can get that frustration more here than anywhere else.)

What we know is that when eventually this story does progress, it’s not exactly going to take a favorable turn for Bess and the rest of the team: China is going to beat them to the punch in terms of aid, and this isn’t likely to sit all that well with them because of everything from motive to the present tense state of relationships between the two countries. This is something that we had a brief taste of a little bit earlier this season with the episode “South China Sea.” There’s still a day in between now and this episode airing, so we recommend heading back and checking that installment out to get a little more of a reminder as to some of what happened there.
