‘Twin Peaks’ revival: Kyle MacLachlan takes center stage in latest teaser

Twin Peaks -We’ve now learned that the upcoming revival series for “Twin Peaks” is coming to Showtime this May, and as a result of that, the network now seems to be lifting the veil (slightly) on what could be coming up next.

The new preview below is one of the longest teasers that the network has revealed so far, and it features the character of Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) making a brief-but-imposing appearance. Beyond that, we’ve got some creepy footage of the woods and that’s about it.

What all of this should (mostly) serve as a reminder of is that Showtime is still choosing to be as coy as possible in setting up much of what is coming up next on the show. They don’t need to give much away. They know that there are plenty of people who are going to turn up to watch this show no matter what they say in advance, and it’s a mystery. With that, what sort of merit is there in giving something away in advance? Here’s the answer: None. there is almost zero reason for anyone to want to give anything away about this story. Plus, if Showtime did without the blessing of one David Lynch, odds are that heads would explode.

The best thing that you can hope for if you’re a “Twin Peaks” fan is that Showtime continues to do little things like that here and there before the show returns. Given that you’ve still got four months, it’s a safe bet that this is happening. Maybe you’ll get a proper trailer at some point in there, but we’re not expecting much given the super-secretive way in which the show was filmed plus Lynch’s reputation.
