‘Call the Midwife’ season 6 trailer, premiere date, and special revealed

Call -

Are you ready to dive into Nonnatus House once more? We hope so, given that the season 6 premiere of “Call the Midwife” is right about here on BBC One. The network does often tend to wait until the last minute to announce their launch date, and they’ve done so yet again here.

The series, which stars Charlotte Ritchie, Helen George, and many others, is going to be officially starting up on the network once we get around to Sunday, January 22 at 8:00 p.m. local time. The season is teased below, and while things appear reasonably lighthearted here, we’re going to continue to see the series tackle tough subjects. Not only that, but they are going to confront some of the biggest changes that are coming their way as a result of the era. The 1960’s were a time of tremendous social change, and there are also introductions in technology that make certain aspects of the job easier — while also challenging in other ways.

This is not the only news that we have for you surrounding the series. On Sunday, January 15, BBC One is going to air a special entitled “The Casebook,” one that is going to give you a chance to look behind the scenes at the show and learn about some of the real midwives who were doing work in the 1940’s. Stephen McGann, who plays the part of Dr. Turner on the series, will serve as your host. Here’s one tease from the network regarding what is coming up with this:

“As well as archive footage and expert interviews, the programme features clips from past editions of Call the Midwife, footage of the new sixth series and an interview with creator and writer Heidi Thomas.”

If you do want to get a further preview for the new season, or simply a refresher as to what has transpired to date with the show, this special could be for you. It ultimately seems like the BBC is crafting a strong foundation for itself with this, and that is something that they will do their best to try to build upon further in the weeks to come.
